Brasilia: Brazilian audiences attend screening of “See You in Montevideo”

altAs a segment of the events marking the 80th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Brazil, a Serbian film was screened for the first time in Brazil's capital. The film shown was none other than See You in Montevideo using the storyline about Serbia's historic win in a soccer match against Brazil to depict early 20th century former Yugoslavia and Serbia.

Film aficionados, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, personages from Brasilia's political life and the academia, including members of the Serbian diaspora watched the film screened at the Brasilia Film Institute, ahead of Serbia-Brazil game at the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup.

With sponsorship of Film Centre Serbia, the Serbian Embassy provided translation and subtitles in Portuguese, and promoted the event in cooperation with the Brasilia Film Institute and the Federal District Secretariat for International Cooperation. Opening the event, Serbian Ambassador in Brasilia Veljko Lazic underlined the importance of presenting national cinematography works in order to foster stronger and closer ties between the two friendly peoples, as well as to inform the people of Brazil about lesser known cultural and sporting contents from Serbia.

The Brasilia in Focus portal reported on the event which was also attended by representatives of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry and Parliament, who agreed that such pieces can only strengthen the ties existing between the two friendly peoples.
