Tokyo: Photo exhibition of Branka Takahashi

altExhibition of photographs by Branka Takahashi, entitled "Sleepless in Russia", taken during her stay in Vladivostok, was displayed at the "Steps" gallery, in the Tokyo Ginza district, from 4 to 9 June.

Ambassador of Serbia to Japan Nenad Glisic spoke at the opening of the exhibition, thanking the Gallery owner Masami Joshioki for strengthening the cultural cooperation between Serbia and Japan. He also thanked the attendees for their unselfish support to our artists in Japan, including the former Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki and his wife Etsuko Tsunozaki, who also chairs the Association for Music Cooperation between Japan and Serbia. Ms. Branka Takahashi voiced her pleasure at being given the opportunity to stage her works at the "Steps" gallery and expressed gratitude to Ambassador Glisic and the Embassy for their support.

Ms. Branka Takahashi graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade and she has lived in Japan most of the time since 1995 with her spouse and a child. In addition to writing, she is also translating from Serbian, Russian and Japanese languages. In early 2017, the Embassy of Serbia hosted the promotion of her book of stories in Japanese entitled "Serbia to Tokyo", which was her first book that was published in Japan. Her books were published in Serbia and Russia while her collection "Moon stories" was awarded the annual prize of the literary club of Kraljevo for 2015.

"Steps" gallery has been cooperating with Serbia for several years now and exhibited the works of art by Serbian artists who live both in Serbia and Japan.
