Tokyo: A presentation of Serbia held in cooperation with Asahi Cultural Centre

altOn 17 April, in cooperation with Tokyo's Asahi Cultural Center – Shinjuku, one of the major media outlets with offices in all parts of Japan, a presentation about Serbia for approximately forty members of the centre was held on the premises of the Serbian Embassy.

Embassy representatives, Ms. Tijana Nagato, who wore a national costume originating from central Serbia, and Mr. Chihaya Oyaizu held a presentation in Japanese and showcased Serbian geography and history, economic potentials, cultural wealth and world heritage sites for which Japanese citizens have always shown interest, natural beauty spots, traditional cuisine and beverages. A screening was also held of the promotional film by the Tourism Organization of Serbia entitled "Soulfood Serbia".

Spouse of the former Ambassador of Japan to Serbia and head of the Japan-Serbia Music Exchange Association, Mrs. Etsuko Tsunozaki (violin) and Ms. Rika Fukuda (piano), both wearing Serbian national costumes, performed musical pieces originating from central and southern Serbia and Kosovo. As a special surprise treat for guests, the artists were joined by Ambassador Glisic on guitar.

The guests had the opportunity to sample Serbian meals, plum brandy and coffee.

Mr. Hironari Yamamoto of the Asahi Cultural Centre, who initiated the event, conveyed positive impressions of the attendees who, in a survey carried out immediately after the presentation, noted that the event "exceeded their expectations".

The Embassy organized a similar event in 2015 as well, cooperating with Asahi Culture Centre in Yokohama.
