Chennai: Serbian Ambassador meets the Prime Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu

altAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia to India Vladimir Maric met with Edappadi Palaniswami, Prime Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu, one of the economically most prosperous states with a population of around 80 million. The two interlocutors discussed opportunities for direct cooperation between Tamil Nadu and Serbia.

"Sports, agriculture, food processing in particular, film industry and tourism were the three main areas of cooperation that were talked about. The Prime Minister was aware of the achievements of the Tamil Nadu Basketball Team coached by experts from Serbia. He showed interest in expanding similar forms of cooperation in other team sports, primarily in volleyball, soccer, handball and water polo", Ambassador Maric said.

He pointed out that Serbia had a very good quality and affordable technology for food processing that India was in great need of. He recalled that as of last year Indian citizens could enter Serbia without a visa, increasing opportunities for cooperation in tourism to a great extent. The film industry in south Indian languages is very developed and is a huge market. There is also an interest in finding new filming locations. Films are also the best advertising of new tourist destinations such as Serbia.
