Kaluga: Ambassador Terzic holds lecture at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration

altSerbian Ambassador to Russia Slavenko Terzic held a lecture entitled "Historical Aspects of Serbia-Russia Relations" at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and attended the opening of the Young Diplomats Club in Kaluga Region.

Terzic spoke about centuries-long ties between Serbia and Russia, the two peoples' important historical figures and cooperation with the Russian Federation. He pointed out in particular the importance of marking the 180th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the events to be held on this important occasion, but also the need for Serbia's much stronger presence in the RF in the fields of culture, publishing, science and education. The Ambassador answered many student questions in a Q&A session, who showed interest for both certain figures and events from Serbian history and the current developments in the political arena, such as the sanctions imposed by the West on the RF and Serbia's European integration. Furthermore, Ambassador Terzic spoke for the local Nika TV and delivered books for the RANEPA library – "Serbian Artistic Heritage in Kosovo and Metohija" and "Old Serbia".

The Serbian Ambassador visited Kaluga on 28 February at the invitation of the Vladimir the Brave Fund, Russia-Serbia Friendship Association of Kaluga Region and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

Former Russian Ambassador in Belgrade and Vice-Chair of the Association of Russian Diplomats Valery Yegoshkin announced that top ten trainees of the Moscow Diplomatic Cadet Corps, who were learning Serbian language, would visit Serbia, the city of Aleksinac, as part of a study visit. He also presented the book he edited and translated "Serbian Fairy Tales", which was published within the Fairy Tales of the People of Russia and the World series.

Stefan Genich, Director of the Vladimir the Brave Fund and of the Russia-Serbia Friendship Association of Kaluga Region said that, in late March, a group of thirty children from Russia would visit Belgrade to participate in the 4th Russia-Serbia Cultural and Sports Festival as well as that a bust of Yuri Gagarin would be formally inaugurated on 12 April in Novi Beograd.

Towards the end of the lecture a culture and art programme was performed by the students of Kaluga's 45th School and Obninsk's Lycée „Derzhava", the first two schools to join the Young Diplomats Club.
