+ larger fontnormal font- Smaller font
altThe International Holocaust Remembrance Day was observed on 26 January at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in London, by a lecture and a photo exhibition devoted to the Novi Sad raid in 1942. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Serbian Orthodox Church, Princess Katherine da Silva and members of Serbian diaspora in London.

Natasa Maric, Charge d'Affaires ad interim recalled that Serbia, by organizing commemorative, educational and scientific events had been observing the International Holocaust Remembrance Day since 2006. Sonja Fistes of the Jewish Community of Novi Sad spoke about the crimes against Serbian, Jewish and Roma peoples in the Second World War.

Dragana Tomasevic, Director of the Jasenovac and Holocaust Memorial Foundation, an organizer of the event, noted that broader public in the UK was not fully aware of the crimes that occurred in our territories and for that reason the Foundation's task would be not only to keep the memory of these events alive but also to inform and raise awareness of the crimes that had been kept under wraps for decades.
