Jerusalem: Ambassador of Serbia awarded a Charter for strengthening ties between Israel and Serbia

altAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia to Israel Milutin Stanojevic was awarded the Charter for outstanding contribution to the strengthening of ties between Israel and Serbia, at a formal ceremony held at the Parliament/ Knesset, on 26 December 2017, organized by MK Oded Forer, Chairman of the Parliamentary Israel-Serbia Friendship Group.

Ambassador Stanojevic said that the years-long tradition of friendship between the two peoples was forged in the most difficult historical circumstances. He underlined that his mission, as Serbian Ambassador to Israel, was significantly facilitated by the contribution of prominent individuals, holders of the charter, many of whom have dedicated their professional careers to building bridges between the two peoples and the two countries.

The participants were addressed by the host, Oded Forer, Balkans Department Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Dan Orian, and engineer Joseph Zsamboki, initiator of the establishment of an Israeli-Serbian company and former President of the Jewish Association in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The awards were officially presented by these three personalities, as signatories of the charters on behalf of their respective institutions.

The awarded laureates included journalist and President of the Israel-Serbia Friendship Association Michael Freund, designer Dan Reisinger, musicologist Dusan Mihalek, writer Ana Shomlo, translator Dina Katan, and other renowned members of the Jewish Association from the territory of the former Yugoslavia: Miriam Avieser, Aleksandar Nikolic, Dr. Elieser Papo, Ivan Tchereshnyesh and "Most" Bulletin Editor Milan Vogel.
