In late September, Serbian basketball coach Milan Opacic held a three-day training camp for ten coaches, three of whom were women, which took place in Bhutan's capital, Thimphu, during a visit co-organized by the Serbian Embassy in New Delhi and the Basketball Federation of Serbia. The trainings received great attention by the local public.

"A year ago I asked Ambassador Vladimir Maric of Serbia for support in developing basketball in Bhutan. He agreed. Today he briefed me about the basketball training camp that a Serbian coach conducted in Thimphu, and about plans to train our coaches, our children and, later, our national team in Serbia. With inspiration and motivation, and now with the world champs as our partners, who knows how far Bhutanese basketball will go? The sky is the limit", said Prime Minister Tobgay in a Facebook post.

Following a three-day training in theory and practice, coach Milan Opacic said that he would pick several coaches for training in Belgrade.

"It is not enough to spend one weekend in training sessions in Bhutan. They must send some coaches, players and referees to be trained in Serbia. We have the best basketball academy in Europe and the biggest one with a couple of thousand kids from around the world", the coach told the Bhutanese portal BBS.
