Paris: UNESCO celebrates Serbian heritage

On the occasion of schools patron saint feast, St. Sava's Day, Serbian cultural and natural heritage event was held for the first time at UNESCO, co-hosted by the Permanent Delegation of Serbia to UNESCO and UNESCO's nursery schools and kindergartens, and sponsored by the Embassy and the Culture and Information Office of the Republic of Serbia in Paris.

The programme was aimed at children of foreign delegates and staff of the UNESCO Secretariat, comprising cultural and artistic content, creative workshops dedicated to Serbian heritage inscribed on the preliminary national list, World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger. The main event took place on 1 February in the Delegates' Club, when Ambassador Darko Tanaskovic and UNESCO representatives addressed the attendants. On this occasion, children's sing and dance companies from France performed a series of Serbian traditional dances, while culinary specialities from Serbia were tasted as well.

In the context of the its unique nature, the event was attended by foreign diplomats, parents of children attending pre-school classes in UNESCO, as well as other friends of Serbia's Permanent Delegation, such as, among others, Permanent Representatives of Venezuela and Slovakia, and Deputy Permanent Representatives of Argentina, India, Poland, Bulgaria and Senegal.
