serbian-film-week-mThe Serbian Film Festival opened in Tel Aviv on 6 October, in cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Israel and the Film Centre of Serbia, Israel Cinematheque and the Association of Israeli-Serbian Friendship. The Festival was opened by the Director of Tel Aviv Cinematheque Alon Garbuz and Ambassador Milutin Stanojevic, in the presence of guests from Serbia: Acting Director of the Film Centre of Serbia Milan Lucic and actors Anica Dobra and Nebojsa Glogovac. The Festival will close by the film "Montevideo, God Bless You" in the presence of its director Dragan Bjelogrlic.

In the framework of the opening ceremony, a cocktail reception was organized on the premises of the Cinematheque, followed by the screening of the film "Circles" by Srdan Golubovic. On the occasion, Milan Lukic addressed the audience and, at the end of the screening, lead actor Nebojsa Glogovac answered their questions. The interest at the opening was unusually large - the largest Cinematheque's room seating 420 was almost fully packed. Audience reactions after the opening and film projection, especially from the diaspora, were overwhelmingly positive, with congratulations and expressions of support for events of this type to promote Serbia in Israel.

The Festival will be organized over the next fifteen days in the form of a Film Week in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa and will feature eight more recent Serbian films, of which six have been translated to Hebrew to make them more familiar to the Israeli public.
