olja-ivanjickiExhibition "Constellation" was opened at the Regional Museum in Rovinj, on 15 June 2013, in memory of famous Serbian artist Olja Ivanjicki. This exhibition commemorates 24 June, the anniversary of the artist's death. At the same time, it is Ivanjicki's 25th posthumous exhibition.
A catalogue with biographic details and information on the artist's opus, as well as a presentable invitation card and a poster of the artist "at the rooftop of a building" reflecting the first performance staged in the former Yugoslavia, were prepared for the exhibition.
The exhibition was organized with the slogan "Olga – Olja Ivanjicki, a Rovinj citizen". She exhibited for the first time in this town in 1964, at "GRIZIJA" art colony, and from then, had participated in all artistic events of Rovinj until the outbreak of war. Eight of her paintings are on display in the Regional Museum alone, whereas some 30 of them are in private collections.
Speakers at the exhibition opening were Museum Director Marija Smolica; Senior Curator and catalogue author Dario Stosic and Dusanka Subotic Homen, representing the Foundation. The exhibition was opened by Deputy Mayor of Istria Municipality Vivijana Benusi and, on behalf of the Serbian Consulate General, Mirjana Milenkovic thanked the local authorities and the Museum for their understanding and assistance in realizing the project, though unannounced, as well as Slavica Popadic, representative of the Serbian Community of Rovinj and member of the Istria Municipal Council, who was active in most preparations for the exhibition, including its official opening and cocktail reception.
The exhibition was attended by a particularly large number of admirers of Olja's work, which surprised the organizers themselves. A group of her friends arrived from Belgrade, among them Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic and journalist Mira Adanja Polak, who did a story for RTV. Apart from great many artists from Rovinj and the region, the exhibition was attended by representatives of the Serbian communities of Pula, Rasa, Labin, Porec, Umag and Rijeka.
The exhibition received media coverage. Croatian national television made a report for the show "Prizma" intended for national minorities; two contributions written in Glas Istre and one in a magazine of the Italian national minority La voce.
At the request of the Serbian Cultural Society Prosveta – Subcommittee for Rijeka, with the assistance of the Consulate, a meeting was organized with Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic, on 16 June 2013. Editor of Bijela pcela, Ljerka Radojcic, wrote a text for the column "When I was little" to be published in the July issue.
