In light of the rapid deterioration of the situation in eastern Ukraine, including yesterday's shelling of Mariupol and the rising number of civilian casualties, the Serbian Chairmanship of the OSCE today announced that a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council will be held on Monday 26 January at 16:00 hrs in Vienna.

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Head of Serbian diplomacy Ivica Dacic in today's statement for “Tanjug” news agency voiced his concern over the escalation of the conflict in eastern Ukraine and appealed to all sides to immediately stop using heavy weapons in civilian-populated areas.

Remembering the Holocaust reminds us that our societies still have lessons to learn and more work to do to counter prejudice, anti-Semitism and xenophobia was the main message at the 22 January meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, which was dedicated to commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January).
