Political relations:

Bilateral relations between R. Serbia and Romania are traditionally good and friendly, as reflected in the regular and substantive political high and top-level dialogue.

Visits and meetings in 2018
• On 24 April 2018, the third quadrilateral meeting was held in Bucharest, focusing on regional interconnectivity projects and European perspectives of the entire region. It was agreed to intensify cooperation within this format with the aim of promoting interests and cooperation in the field of (energy) infrastructure, transport and communications, as well as to establish a working group to carry out activities towards the concretization of projects in mutual interest, within the above sectors.
• Romanian Justice Minister T. Toader was on an official visit to Belgrade on 26 March 2018, on which occasion he met with Minister of Justice of R. Serbia Ms. N. Kuburovic.
• President of R. Serbia A. Vucic paid an official visit to Romania on 8 March 2018 when he met with Romanian President K. Iohannis, Prime Minister V. Dăncilă as well as President of the Senate C. P. Tăriceanu and President of the Chamber of Deputies L. Dragnea. The delegation headed by President A. Vucic also included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Ms. Z. Mihajlovic.
Visits and meetings in 2017
• Romanian Minister of National Defence M. Fifor was on an official visit to R. Serbia on 3-4 December 2017, at the invitation of Minister of Defence of R. Serbia A. Vulin.
• On 4 October 2017, a quadrilateral meeting between President of R. Serbia A. Vucic and Prime Ministers of Romania, R. Bulgaria and the Hellenic Republic was held in Varna (Bulgaria).
• After a successful quadrilateral meeting in Varna, the second quadrilateral meeting at the same level followed in Belgrade, on 7-8 December.
• On 7 November 2017, a trilateral meeting between foreign affairs parliamentary committees of R. Serbia, R. Bulgaria and Romania was held in Belgrade. On this occasion, a meeting was held between the Romanian delegation and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia I. Dacic.

Visits and meetings in 2016
• At the invitation of Prime Minister of Romania D. Cioloș, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, accompanied by his four Cabinet Ministers, was on a working visit to Timișoara on 10 November 2016.
• Delegation of the Negotiating Team for Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, led by Head of the RS Negotiating Team Ms. Tanja Miscevic was on a visit to Bucharest from 21 to 23 February 2016.

Visits and meetings in 2015
• Romania's Prime Minister V. Ponta visited Belgrade on 4 September 2015 when he met with Prime Minister of R. Serbia A. Vucic.
• President of Romania Klaus Iohannis was on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia on 16 July 2015, when he met President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Maja Gojkovic and representatives of the Romanian national minority.
• On 24 April 2015, a trilateral meeting between the Prime Ministers of R. Serbia, R. Bulgaria and Romania was held in Craiova, Romania.
• Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ms. Maja Gojkovic was on an official visit to Bucharest on 27 May 2015, when she met with President of Romania K. Iohannis, Prime Minister V. Ponta and President of the Senate C. P. Tăriceanu.

  
Economic relations:

Romania is R. Serbia's important trading partner, and there is considerable room for the promotion of this form of the two states' cooperation. Commercial exchange, which saw constant increase in the past period, dominates the economic cooperation. In 2017, Romania was the seventh largest trading partner of the Republic of Serbia, and fifth according to the volume of exports.

Total foreign trade between R. Serbia and Romania amounted to EUR 1.2 billion in 2017, of which Serbian exports amounted to EUR 769.3 million, and imports from Romania to R. Serbia amounted to EUR 570 million, thus recording a 2.1% increase compared to 2016.
