Grenada -_MIPFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today in Belgrade with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Grenada Charles Peter David, who is on an official visit to Serbia.
Minister Dacic today thanked Grenada for its understanding of Serbian position and the decision made last year to revoke its recognition of Kosovo, saying that the relations between the two countries needed to be revitalized in order to match the level from the time of NAM.

"I would like to thank Granada for its understanding of our position and the decision to suspend all previous decisions concerning the status of Kosovo, having heard our explanation of the situation and the fact that the dialogue is still ongoing, and agreeing to accept the results to be reached in the dialogue", Dacic said recalling that Grenada had also voted against the admission of Kosovo to Interpol. The Minister conveyed Serbia's readiness to develop strategic relations with Granada in all areas, and that support mutually offered between the two countries was based on their friendship.

The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed the potential for developing the two countries' cooperation in the fields of education, agriculture and ICT.

"Serbia has let its role and ability to secure its presence in some regions of the world slip away, including the countries of the Caribbean, and this marks our return to this region. Therefore, I am glad that this visit by the Foreign Minister of Grenada is taking place", said Dacic adding that general knowledge here about the Caribbean countries may not be too extensive, but that they did not know very much about Serbia, either, while stressing that Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, the Commonwealth of Dominica did not also recognize Kosovo, and that efforts would be made to promote relations with these countries.

Minister David underlined that this was his second visit to Belgrade so far and that he was glad that his country was developing closer relations with Serbia. He stressed the necessity to strengthen the relations between the two countries as well as regions.

"Thank you for the warm welcome. We had an opportunity to enjoy hospitality extended to us both by our hosts and the Serbian people. Warmth of the people I experienced here is very similar to that of our people in Grenada.

Even though our countries are far apart, we believe there is a lot we share in common and that much can be done in the relations between the two countries. I told the Serbian Prime Minister and the President that our long-term task is to bring our states and peoples closer together.

Grenada remains firm concerning its decision to revoke its recognition of the independence of Kosovo and its readiness to wait for the outcome of the dialogue", concluded Minister David after the meeting he had today with his host, Minister Dacic.
