Minister Dacic in talks with Union of the Comoros’ Chief of Defence Staff

Ivica Dacic with Youssouf IdjihadiFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with Youssouf Idjihadi, Chief of Defence Staff of the Union of the Comoros, who is on a visit to Serbia.

Minister Dacic said that he was pleased that the relations between the two countries were being revitalized. He stressed that Serbia and the Comoros were tied by a long history of traditionally friendly relations. The Minister recalled that he had visited the Union of the Comoros in 2018 as well as that the Comorian Foreign Minister paid a visit to Belgrade in November last year, on which occasion it was agreed to deepen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. He said that he was very glad that the agreements made were being carried out, as demonstrated by today's visit of the Comorian Chief of Defence Staff to our country.

Minister Dacic conveyed his gratitude to the Government and the people of the Union of the Comoros for their decision to revoke the recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of "Kosovo". He stressed that Serbia highly appreciated this friendly gesture by which the Comoros demonstrated respect for the fundamental principles of international law.

In the meeting, the collocutors discussed prospects for the further deepening of cooperation in the fields of defence, economy, education, tourism and culture. They agreed on the need to sign relevant bilateral agreements in this context.
