StevanovicState Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Stevanovic met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek in Bratislava.

The collocutors agreed that the two countries' bilateral relations were at a high level and that their political dialogue was developed. The officials underlined that the trade in goods had reached an all-time high in 2017 and affirmed their interest for the further promotion of economic cooperation. They discussed concrete initiatives in IT, energy and agriculture sectors.

Multilateral cooperation and preparations for the incoming Slovakian OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office in 2019 were also discussed at the meeting, including possible transfer and exchange of experiences in the light of Serbia's successful 2015 Chairmanship-in-Office of the Organization.

State Secretary Stevanovic thanked the Slovak side for its principled position concerning the support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia as well as to Serbia's EU integration process. State Secretary Stevanovic unambiguously conveyed the serious consequences of a potential admission of so-called "Kosovo" to Interpol and, in this context, kindly requested the support of Slovakia and other friendly countries in dealing with this important issue which called for a delicate approach.

The meeting also discussed the position of national minorities in either state, when State Secretary Parízek expressed his special gratitude for the manner in which the Slovak national minority was treated in Serbia.
