U.S. Congressional Staffer Delegation on a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

MFAState Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Stevanovic met today with a six-member U.S. Congress staffer delegation, who are visiting Belgrade on 23-26 October.

State Secretary Nemanja Stevanovic expressed his pleasure at the first visit by the Congressional staffer delegation realized in the framework of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange – MECEA agreement signed in 2015, and estimated that this initiative was highly beneficial to the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

In this context, the State Secretary recalled the alliance of the two counties throughout history, including this year's commemoration of a landmark date – the 100th anniversary since the Serbian flag flew over the White House, solemnly marked on 25 July at the U.S. Congress.

The guests expressed their gratitude for the hospitality, pleased for having an opportunity to visit the Republic of Serbia, and stressed that the visit was timely and contributive to their better understanding of the two countries' all-round bilateral relations.

During their stay in Belgrade, in addition to meeting with the State Secretary, the delegation made a brief courtesy call on First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, and had meetings with Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for bilateral cooperation Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili and Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for security policy Branimir Filipovic.
