On the occasion of consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, held in Tirana on 18 January 2018, Ambassador Aca Jovanovic, Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was received by Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.

Ambassador Jovanovic conveyed to Minister Bushati regards from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic along with his expectation that intensive contacts between the highest-ranking officials of the two countries would continue in the forthcoming period. Ambassador Jovanovic informed Minister Bushati of the results of consular consultations, assessing that the cooperation in the field of consular affairs reflected improving political relations between the two countries.

Minister Bushati expressed his great pleasure over the holding of bilateral consular consultations. According to him, bilateral relations between the two countries are developing in a positive direction thanks to the highest-level meetings between President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama, as well as his meetings with Foreign Minister Dacic.

They agreed that consular cooperation between the two countries should be further promoted through steady exchanges of experience and expansion of bilateral legal and contractual framework in the field of consular affairs with a view to promoting protection of the rights and interests of nationals from both states.

These talks were also attended by Miroljub Zaric, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Tirana and Arqile Sota, Director of Consular Affairs in the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.
