Toncev and Jovanovic in ViennaState Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Toncev is on an official visit to Vienna, accompanied by the Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of consular matters, Ambassador Aca Jovanovic.

Monitoring the work of the Serbian Embassy's Consular Section in Vienna was the immediate reason for the visit to the city.

The newly-established monitoring practice (the first monitoring visit has been recently made to the Serbian Embassy in Bratislava) aims to gain direct insight into the current state and working conditions at diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia. In this particular case the monitoring focused on the conditions of work and services provided by the consular officers of the Vienna Embassy.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will look at the current state of affairs with members of the Monitoring Team headed by State Secretary Toncev, thus laying down the groundwork for making recommendations intended to enhance both the working conditions and the quality of consular services provided at diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia.

Special emphasis will be placed on ensuring the best possible conditions for working with clients, which primarily implies the acquisition of adequate premises and their provision with equipment necessary for such work of consular officers.

The Vienna Embassy is one of the most active diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia in terms of consular services, having in mind that several hundred thousand Serbian nationals reside in Austria.
