Ambassador Branimir Filipovic in talks with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy

MFA RSActing Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic had talks with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Ambassador Tacan Ildem, who is on a visit to Belgrade to attend the 5th Belgrade NATO Week Event, on 16-17 November 2017, organized by the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies and co-sponsored by the NATO Public Diplomacy Division and the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade.

The discussion topics concerned the further promotion of partner cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO as well as a continued promotion of dialogue at various levels following the successful visit by President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to the NATO Headquarters on 15 November 2017, the talks he had with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and his participation in a NAC+Serbia meeting.

They also discussed activities in the field of public diplomacy and further steps to be taken by either side, as well as finding ways to present in the best way possible to the wider public the previously achieved results of Serbia-NATO cooperation.

Ambassador Filipovic emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other governmental bodies devoted their full attention to these activities, as part of a priority goal to present to the wider public in an authentic, timely and suitable manner the results achieved so far in the framework of practical cooperation with NATO within the Partnership for Peace program and other programs of the Alliance, as well as to inform of the importance of the intensity of political dialogue. To this end, our side underscored that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was open for cooperation with the civil society, the media and other organizations and also that its representatives participated regularly and actively in all public and other events held by these organizations.
