State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nemanja Stevanovic received the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Ms. Grete Faremo, who is on a three-day visit to Serbia. In the meeting, the officials discussed the ongoing UNOPS projects and activities as well as the prospects for further promotion of cooperation.

State Secretary Stevanovic commended the successful cooperation between UNOPS and the Serbian Government carried out so far in the realization of development and infrastructure projects. He also expressed his gratitude for the assistance the Office had provided in the restoration of affected areas following the 2014 floods and for its overall activity in Serbia. The State Secretary informed his interlocutor about the activities being undertaken by the Serbian Government in the fields of economy, infrastructure, attracting further foreign investments and strengthening the services sector, particularly in the sphere of information technologies.

Ms. Faremo thanked the Serbian Government for the trust shown, rating highly the cooperation with relevant government sectors and local self-government partners achieved in the realization of important development projects. She conveyed readiness of UNOPS to continue its support to the Serbian Government in the European integration process and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
