Tokyo: Japanese band JapaLkan holds a concert at the Serbian Embassy

japalkan 0_06.09.2017The Society for the Promotion of Music Cooperation between Japan and Serbia headed by its President, Mrs. Etsuko Tsunozaki, wife of the former Ambassador of Japan to Belgrade, organized on the premises of the Serbian Embassy in Tokyo, on 6 September, a concert by JapaLkan, a Japanese band performing Serbian music.


Ambassador Nenad Glisic thanked the members of JapaLkan for promoting Serbian music throughout Japan and expressed his hope that the band would pay their first visit to Serbia next year, at the invitation of film director Emir Kusturica.


"I hope that the range of Serbian songs in your set will be expanded even further after you have visited Serbia and participated in Küstendorf festival. I would like to thank Mrs. Tsunozaki for her continued assistance in the organization of cultural events on the premises of the Embassy, as well as to Mr. Tadashi Nagai, President of Serbia - Japan Friendship Association, the former Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, for being here with us today and for his support in making the event happen", said Ambassador Glisic who joined the band on the guitar for the rendition of songs "April u Beogradu" and "Tamo Daleko". The Ambassador passed around copies of the lyrics for "Tamo Daleko" to the guests, enabling them to join in on a sing-along.

After the concert, the guests had an opportunity to sample various Serbian culinary specialties, plum brandy and Serbian wine selection.
