spanija blic_rsAccording to the current information available to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Madrid, one citizen of the Republic of Serbia suffered injuries as a result of cuts in the terrorist attack that took place yesterday in Barcelona and was discharged from hospital after having received medical attention. Representatives of a number of travel agencies from the Republic of Serbia contacted the Embassy to say that the Serbian citizens who were in Barcelona yesterday as part of their tour packages were safe.

The Serbian Embassy in Madrid is in direct contact with the relevant authorities of the Kingdom of Spain and is expecting official information as to whether there are any more citizens of the Republic of Serbia among the victims. The Kingdom of Spain's Ministry of the Interior continues to identify victims of yesterday's terrorist attack, while the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the Serbian Embassy in Madrid that a coordination mechanism had been established with the other governmental agencies, in order to as soon as possible provide all relevant information about the victims to foreign embassies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia advises all citizens of the Republic of Serbia currently staying in Spain to follow instructions of the relevant Spanish police authorities and their tour operators, as well as to regularly keep track of information provided by the media. It is recommended to stay alert in public spaces, such as central city squares, tourist attractions, shopping malls, near governmental institutions, military installations, police stations and on public transport.
