A meeting was held today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, and the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, Dr. Nebojsa Stefanovic.
A mutual assessment was made that the cooperation between the two ministries had been highly successful so far, and that there were possibilities for its further enhancement. The talks focused on specific modalities of cooperation at the operational/technical level, and the plans for reaching agreements on abolition of visas with certain countries. A particular segment of talks dealt with continuation of coordinated efforts against the attempts by so-called "Kosovo" to become an Interpol member. They reviewed the activities undertaken so far and discussed the possibilities of taking further action on this issue, which was of special importance in the context of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and opposing the unilateral attempts of so-called "Kosovo" to become a member of international organizations, in violation of the United Nations Charter and UN Security Council resolution 1244(1999). It was agreed to further intensify coordination between the two ministries regarding this issue, in the coming period. |
