First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today the Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Mohammad Ahmad Moussava.

Minister Dacic expressed his satisfaction with the relations between the two states, marked by the traditional friendship dating back to Josip Broz Tito's era, expressing his readiness that Serbia, as the key successor of the former SFRY, should achieve the then level of relations, both politically and economically. In this light, the Minister underlined that Serbia sympathized with the problems facing the friendly people of Nigeria and supported the Nigerian Government on matters of national interest.

The Serbian Foreign Minister thanked for the support that Nigeria extended to Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pointing to the excellent and traditionally friendly relations between Nigeria and Serbia, Under-Secretary Moussava confirmed that Nigeria would maintain its support regarding Kosovo and Metohija at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

In the talks, the two sides expressed their mutual interest to further enhance bilateral relations through exchange of visits at all levels and to strengthen economic and other forms of cooperation.

It was assessed by both sides that that there was a shared desire that the two countries and peoples should develop relations and intensify the cooperation in all areas.

The two interlocutors noted that there were significant opportunities for the enhancement of bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Nigeria and that, in this regard, the two countries' entrepreneurs should be given special impetus.
