njujork 8620171Katarina Cudic, an art historian, a designer and author of artistic jewelry items, with special interest in the history of jewelry and contemporary jewelry, successfully presented her work, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in New York. The jewelry items created by author Cudic familiarized the audience with the medieval Serbian jewelry, reinvented in modern style.

Katarina graduated from the famous Italian Le Arti Orafe jewelry school from Florence. At the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, she dealt with the history of Serbian jewelry, with special emphasis on female jewelry in medieval Serbia, between 12th and 15th centuries, which served as a sort of inspiration for this exhibition.

By striving to a perfect blend of modern design and traditional goldsmith techniques, each exhibited item cleverly juggles between art and craft. The modern forms of tarnished silver, enriched by the warmth of gold details or semi-precious stones are expressive of the author's strong artistic identity.

The artist received special attention and recognition for her work at both national and international exhibitions, and in numerous publications. She participated in the organization of jewelry exhibitions, while carrying out research and writing about the history of jewelry and the contemporary jewelry.

Katarina is an active member of the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDS) and the Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo (AGC).

The exhibition of artistic jewelry authored by this young artist at the Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in New York attracted many visitors, both members of the Serbian community and international guests, who showed great interest in the work of Katarina Cudic and her authentic artistic jewelry items.
