First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, who is visiting in Nicosia, had talks todays with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagaland.

Both sides expressed pleasure at the past cooperation between Serbia and the Council of Europe and supported its continuation.

They also discussed the situation in the region and voiced their serious concern about the increasing nationalistic rhetoric, especially coming from the Albanian side. They supported the continued status-neutral engagement of the Council of Europe in Kosovo and Metohija, in accordance with UNSC resolution 1244 (1999).
