Aleksic 2352017Acting Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Goran Aleksic, in his capacity as Special Envoy of the Serbian Prime Minister, delivered today in Hanoi the personal message by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, which concerned the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija as well as further promotion of years-long friendly relations between the two countries.

In the extensive talks with Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam, both sides noted the traditional decades-long understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The Serbian side reiterated its gratitude for the principled support of Vietnam to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and its position on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo. Expectation was expressed that this position of Vietnam would remain unchanged. The officials particularly discussed cooperation at international level, agreeing to intensify cooperation in international organizations.

They stressed the need to promote high- and top-level political dialogue, stressing in particular the necessity of strengthening cooperation in economy, and proposed concrete steps to potentially contribute to its promotion.
