Bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Japan were held in Tokyo, on 2-3 March 2017.
The Japanese delegation was headed by Deputy Director General for Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Manabu Mijagava, while the Serbian delegation was headed by the Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation, Ambassador Goran Aleksic. During the talks, the two sides noted the existence of good political relations between their countries, continuing to develop on an ascending line, and confirmed the need for further enhancement of cooperation in all areas of common interest. The role of Japan as Serbia's significant economic partner was underlined, among other things also because of its important humanitarian, developmental and financial assistance to Serbia. The consultations also dealt with issues on the bilateral agenda, focusing on the promotion of economic cooperation between Serbia and Japan. The talks further centred round cooperation between the two countries in the framework of international organizations, and views were exchanged on the situation in the Western Balkans, Eastern Asia and other current international topics. During his visit to Tokyo, Ambassador Aleksic had a meeting with President of the Japan-Serbia Parliamentary League of Friendship Ichiro Aisawa, Senior Vice President of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency Kenichi Tomioshi, and Director General for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yasushi Masaki. |
