At the invitation of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, Leonard She Okitundu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is visiting the Republic of Serbia, 13-14 February 2017.
Minister Dacic had talks today with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In a cordial exchange, they discussed and agreed on modalities to promote bilateral relations by establishing an intergovernmental Joint Committee as a legal framework for monitoring and strengthening concrete programmes of cooperation, particularly in the economy. Minister Okitundu relayed interest for cooperation between the two countries in energy, defence, agriculture and health, utilizing Serbia's expertise and technology as well as financing opportunities via the African Development Bank or other partners. The officials considered in particular further cooperation at the multilateral level. DR Congo confirmed its unconditional support to principled positions of the Republic of Serbia concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. |
