On the last day of his official visit to China, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic visited Tianjin, where he had a meeting with its Mayor Wang Dongfeng.
The Mayor presented the potentials of Tianjin, one of the four Chinese cities directly administered by the Government of the PR of China, a city with a population of more than 15 million, which had seen an exceptionally dynamic development in recent years, ranking it first among the cities in northern China. Last year, Tianjin's GDP amounted to some 250 billion dollars, with a 9.1% growth and a 10% increase in investments in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period last year. The two sides noted that significant potential existed for strengthening the all-round cooperation between Serbia and Tianjin, particularly in the areas of economy, investment and agriculture. It was assessed that the coming abolition of visas for holders of Serbian and Chinese ordinary passports would create opportunities for strengthening cooperation in tourism, calling for earliest possible establishment of direct flights between the two countries. Wang expressed particular interest in the operation of air services between Belgrade and Tianjin, due to the proximity of Beijing and the plan for connecting the two cities. Minister Dacic also visited the special economic/technical zone in Tianjin, and "Great Wall" car factory. |
