london aktuelnosti_25112016On 25 November 2016, on the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, a literary evening was held, presenting the book by Professor David Norris "Haunted Serbia: Representations of History and War in the Literary Imagination". David Norris is an Associate Professor of Serbian and Croatian, Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies, University of Nottingham.

In the book, the author analyzes Serbian prose from the 1980s dedicated to the Second World War, namely the works of Svetlana Velmar-Jankovic, Slobodan Selenic, et al., as well as the descriptions of the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia. According to Norris, the book deals with "grotesque, ghostly and haunting images indicating a historic crisis of those times".

Addressing the audience, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in London Dr. Ognjen Pribicevic underlined that the Embassy attached particular importance to cultural cooperation between Serbia and the UK, expressing gratitude to Professor Norris for his personal efforts in reinforcing its foundations through his professional work and writings. Along with representatives of the Serbian diaspora, the event was attended by students of the University of Nottingham and the UCL.
