The eighth meeting of national coordinators of the China- CEEC mechanism was held in Latvia's capital Riga, on 14 October 2016.

Mr. Aleksandar Jankovic, Head of the Department for Asia, Australia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented the Republic of Serbia in the meeting.

Several panels were held within the meeting of national coordinators. The topics included, inter alia, preparations for the holding of the Fifth China- CEEC summit in early November 2016, in Latvia, and the current activities in the area of sectoral cooperation, especially infrastructure and transportation.

Apart from representatives of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Chinese side was represented by Liu Haixing, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary General of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and East European Countries.
