Minister Dacic and his counterpart from Sri Lanka discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation

njujork dacic_msp_sri_lanke_20920162First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia is on a visit to New York where the general debate of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly is taking place.

On the fringes of the general debate of the UN General Assembly session, Minister Dacic had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Mangala Samaraweera.

In the meeting, the Ministers agreed that, although the bilateral relations between the two countries were traditionally good, there was room for their further improvement as well as for cooperation in the framework of international organizations.

The Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka extended an invitation to Minister Dacic to visit Sri Lanka.

Minister Dacic underlined that the opportunity presented by the exchange of bilateral visits should be used towards deepening the cooperation in education and culture, and highlighted in particular the importance of establishing economic cooperation.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy expressed gratitude to Sri Lanka for its principled position concerning the Kosovo and Metohija issue.
