Mexico: Inauguration of new membership of Mexico’s Parliamentary Friendship Group for cooperation with Serbian National Assembly |

The formal inauguration of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for cooperation with the Serbian National Assembly took place at the Mexican Congress of the Union, in the Foreign Affairs Hall "Gilberto Bosques Saldívar".
The inaugural speech was delivered by the Head of the Friendship Group, Alicia Guadalupe Gamboa Martínez MP, in which she emphasised the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a form of communication aimed at achieving harmony and maintaining peace, and commended the idea that Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Maja Gojkovic visit the Mexican Congress of the Union next year. Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia Goran Mesic underscored in his speech the importance of good bilateral relations between Serbia and Mexico for the development of parliamentary cooperation and recalled that Mexican culture, cinematography and music had been highly popular in Serbia in the mid-20th century. The Ambassador underlined that Serbia did not forget Mexico's support during the NATO bombing in 1999 and expressed his gratitude for the principled support Mexico extended to our country in relation to the non-recognition of so-called Kosovo. Following the introductory speeches, Head of the Friendship Group Guadalupe and Ambassador Mesic signed an agreement on cooperation. On this occasion, Ambassador Mesic signed the Honorary Guest Book. After the Friendship Group was formally declared operational at the Saint Lazarus Legislative Palace, Mr. Mesic and Mrs. Guadalupe opened an exhibition of Serbian artwork by sculptor Leposava Milosevic, exhibits from the collection of scientific research of Nikola Tesla, and brochures promoting tourism in Serbia. |
