dacic-blicFollowing the statement by Foreign Minister of Croatia Miro Kovac, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that Croatia should stop with the propaganda and actions reminiscent of the 1940s and the Nazi Ustasha-run Independent State of Croatia (NDH).

"The rehabilitation of Stepinac, Ustasha rampage in Srb and throughout Croatia, streets named after Mile Budak, an Ustasha Minister who originated the idea that a third of Serbs should be killed, a third persecuted and a third converted to Catholic faith, and even after 10 April, the day the NDH was created, the fascist Ustasha salute "for homeland ready" being heard at sports venues and concerts, swastikas painted at Poljud Stadium and also on anti-fascist monuments, erecting of a monument to the Ustasha terrorist Barisic who killed a Yugoslav Ambassador – what does this amount to if not to the rehabilitation of the fascist Ustasha-run NDH.

If one adds to this list the abolishment of the verdict to Glavas, a murderer of Serbian civilians, Maric being virtually acquitted, the announcement that Thompson would at the anniversary of Operation Storm cry out loud again the Ustasha salute "for homeland ready", what does all of this amount to if not to the message that it is possible to kill Serbs with impunity. This is the Croatia of today, one led by successors to Nazis and Ustashe, and by successors to those who had persecuted more than 250 thousand Serbs in the 1990s. That it is them who call for Europeanization today is tragicomic. The EU is to be pitied if its system of values is based on today's Croatia and its ideas of rehabilitating the fascist Ustasha-run NDH that the whole world fought against.

No action of Serbia's has incited or stirred up conflicts in the region, on the contrary, we are doing everything in our power to achieve regional stability. We support dialogue, but insults, humiliation and rehabilitation of crimes against Serbs are something that Serbia will never allow", says Minister Dacic in his statement.
