MINISTRY’S STATEMENT CONCERNING RIOTS IN XINJIANG PROVINCE OF CHINA

In the wake of the riots in the Xinjiang autonomous region of China, the Republic of Serbia reiterates its principled support for the policy of “one China” and its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China. Serbia fully supports the PR of China’s policy of a common and harmonious inter-communal life in that country and it appreciates the efforts made by the Beijing government towards that end.

Serbia condemns any violence and opposes ethnically motivated separatist attempts, calling for the resolution of all controversies by peaceful means. It deplores the loss of life in this autonomous region and upholds the efforts of Chinese authorities aimed at defusing the situation in the province.
