Marking the 20th anniversary of signing the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty in Vienna

branimir filipovic_1462016On 13 June 2016, the Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic and Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to OSCE and other international organisations in Vienna, Ambassador VukZugic, took part in the Ministerial Meeting held in Vienna on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of signing the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

Ambassador Zugic, as Co-Chairman of the Preparatory Commission of the CTBT Organisation presided over the afternoon session of the Ministerial Meeting, at which 70 representatives of the States Parties took the floor.

Speaking at the Ministerial Meeting, Ambassador Filipovic indicated that the Republic of Serbia, which ratified this Treaty in 2004, strongly supported the activities conducive to creating conditions for entry into force of this international instrument in the near future, and that Serbia remained committed to full and consistent honouring of all CTBT commitments and to strengthening the regime established by CTBT.

Ambassadors Filipovic and Zugic participated in the Ministerial-levelroundtable organised as a side-event to theMeetingto discuss ways of overcoming all the challenges and ofsecuring the needed number of countries to sign and ratify in order for this international treaty to enter into force.
