SERBIAN CITIZENS KILLED, INJURED IN ACCIDENT IN EGYPT

In a serious traffic accident that took place this morning on the road to Hurghada, near Luxor, Egypt, eleven Serbian tourists died while six were injured and now treated at the Central Hospital in that resort.

The dead Serbians were all holiday makers in Egypt, according to reports.

Judging by unconfirmed information that the Serbian Embassy in Cairo received from Egyptian authorities, the accident was caused by a collision involving a bus coach transporting visitors from Serbia and a lorry.

Representatives of the Embassy to Egypt travelled today to Hurghada to provide to our citizens all the necessary assistance and support.

The Serbian Foreign Minister will also send today a special team of consular officers who will take all steps needed to ensure that the injured are properly medically treated and that the human remains of those who died in the accident are transported back to the country as soon as possible.

The Ministry will keep members of the public informed about all official news that becomes available from the Egyptian authorities via the Cairo Embassy.

The Ministry has opened two telephone lines for any help and assistance which can be reached 24 hours a day on weekdays and at weekend by dialling +381 11/306 8268 or +381 11/306 8197.
