The Ministry of Foreign Affairs formally celebrated Consular Day, on 2 June. On this occasion, the hosts were Ambassador Dragan Momcilovic, Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Ambassador Aca Jovanovic, Head of the Consular Affairs Department, and Ms Ljiljana Zarubica, Head of the Visa Policy Department.

The celebration was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, staff of the Consular Affairs Sector and by representatives from other government bodies and institutions with which the Foreign Ministry cooperates in performing consular functions and in protecting the citizens of the Republic of Serbia abroad.

Consular Day, i.e. the 2nd of June, is celebrated in honour of the authorisation given by Karadjordje Petrovic, in 1804, to the more prominent Serbs to raise funds abroad for the needs of the insurgent Serbia. This meant the establishment of consular relations between the insurgent Serbia and other countries.
