First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Michael Spindelegger to discuss challenges of the migrant crisis.

Minister Dacic congratulated M. Spindelegger on his assumption of the office of ICMPD Director General, underlining the international center's importance in the circumstances of huge migrant pressure on the European continent.

Michael Spindelegger said that the ICMPD, as a forum dealing with the issues of irregular migration, human trafficking, border management, asylum, legal migration and integration, would provide, during the Austrian Chairmanship, even stronger support to Member States in finding an appropriate response to migration challenges.

Minister Dacic and M. Spindelegger agreed that the European Union's common decision on how to manage the migrant crisis was essential to resolving the current situation.
