Charity tennis tournament in New Delhi

new delhi_2042016At the initiative of the Ambassador of the Republicof Serbiain New Delhi, H.E. Vladimir Maric, a charity tennis tournament was jointly hosted on 16-17 April 2016 by the Embassies of the Republicof Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guatemalaand Chile.

Embassies of 18 other countries supported the organization of the tournament, and 50 players participated in it. On the first day, matches were played on the All India Tennis Association's courts, while on the second day, semi-finals and finals, exhibition match with former Indian Davis Cup players and the awards presentation were held at the Serbian Embassy. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju awarded the winners, other participants and sponsors. The event was attended by 200 guests, including foreign ambassadors, representatives of the senior management of companies which sponsored the event, along with a significant number of media representatives. In his speech, Minister Rijiju expressly thanked Ambassador Maric for the initiative and extended full support of the Government of India to this project. The initiative has had a great impact on the Indian public and represents a significant contribution to the promotion of theRepublic ofSerbia in this country. The raised funds have been transferred to the renowned Indian NGO "Sulbah".
