Chicago: Republic of Serbia’s Statehood Day commemorated

chikago dan_d_222016The Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia was formally commemorated on February 16, at the "Daley Center Plaza" in Chicago.

The celebration was organized by the Consulate General in cooperation with the city of Chicago, more precisely the Secretariat for Culture of Chicago, and the local Serbian community. The choir "Branko Radicevic", students of "Saint Sava" Academy, and the folklore ensembles "Soko" ("Falcon") and "DukatiiBiseri" ("Ducats and Pearls") performed during the cultural and artistic segment of the program. The celebration ended with the joint performance of all the participants singing the song "Ovo je Srbija" ("This is Serbia"). With an appropriate speech, the Acting Consul General addressed the guests, among whom were representatives of American authorities, consular corps, and the representatives of Serbian associations and societies.
