Statement by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic

DThe incumbent Serbian Government will be remembered, inter alia, for being under constantscrutiny. Abuse of themes for political endsholds nothingsacred, not even loss of human life.

This was not the case, however, when those who are currently showing lack of basic human empathyfor the victims, their families and the Establishment were in government. Those former governmentswhose leaders are now on the fringes of political life, calling on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to tender their resignations never even thought of taking any step as close as that, not even when Serbia's vital interests were at stake as, for example, following the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence and when they were in office, Kosovo was recognized by more than 80 countries.

This was preceded by the March pogrom in Kosovo and Metohija when, during Tadic's term of office as Defence Minister, 16 Serbs were killed, more than 900 were wounded, four thousand were forced out of their homes, 935 Serbian houses and 35 Serbian Orthodox churches were burned down. And all this was not enough for them to resign.

For these reasons, Boris Tadic should better account for the medal he received from Ghadhi; his participation in the military parade in Tripoli to mark the 40th anniversary of Ghadhi's revolution, where he was accompanied by a  Serbian Army squad, while the rest of the world was commemorating the 70th anniversary of the beginning of WWII; his four meetings with Ghadhi in Libya in five years, on which he prided himself at the time – contributed to Serbia's international reputation and the security and safety of Serbs in post-Ghadhi Libya.

As for BorkoStefanovic – Chief of Office of then Foreign Minister VukJeremic from 3 September 2007, and the Ministry's Political Director between 26 August 2011 and 1 May 2013, he should better explain why the Embassy was not closed back in 2011 when the war broke out and reached its peak and when, after the fall of Ghadhi, Serbs were identified as his main allies.

In their well-known mannerand their reverse thinking propositions,Tadic and others are putting the blame on Vucic and Dacic instead of those who kidnapped and killed our people. This is the only truth.
