On 26th November 2015, the 60th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Kęstutis Jankauskas, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Angelo Gnaedinger, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.
The participants welcomed the new leading South Ossetian participant to the IPRM, David Sanakoyev. The security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) was noted to be stable. However, concerns were expressed over freedom of movement of local communities, especially during religious holidays, and an increased number of detentions. The co-facilitators welcomed the willingness of the participants to jointly address security concerns by effectively using the Hotline and through field visits. Several specific cases of missing persons and detentions were discussed in depth. The next IPRM meeting will take place on 16th December. |
