Britain’s Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond visits Belgrade |

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with Philip Hammond, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
During the talks they discussed the prospect of strengthening bilateral relations between the UK and Serbia, Serbia’s progress on negotiations with the EU, its role in the region, the challenges of the refugee crisis caused by a large influx and transit of refugees from the Middle East and the continuation of the dialogue and the implementation of the agreed in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The UK senior official conveyed the support of his country to the reform processes contributing to the successful European integration of Serbia. He assessed that the position of Serbia under strain of the refugee crisis and the role played by it in the region had a very positive effect on the reputation of Serbia. Minister Dacic underlined the necessity of strengthening the cooperation between Belgrade and London and explained Serbia’s position in the context of the most pressing issues. |
