SEEGROUPA group of diplomats, representing participating states of SEEGROUP, chaired in 2015 by the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to NATO, is visiting Serbia from 29 September to 1 October 2015.

The Southeast Europe Security Cooperation Steering Group (SEEGROUP) was initiated in October 2000 as NATO’s informal platform for political and security consultations relevant to the SEE region. It brings together in Brussels diplomatic representatives from NATO Member States, SEE partner states and NATO’s Western Balkan partners demonstrating an interest in regional developments (Sweden, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland).

Thirty SEEGROUP members visiting Serbia were received today in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they were extensively briefed on cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO through the Partnership for Peace programme, the progress achieved in the European integration process and during Serbia’s OSCE Chairmanship. The briefing for members of the Group was held by Acting Assistant Minister for Security Policy Branislav Filipovic, and attended also by Head of the Department of NATO and Partnership for Peace Dijana Ivancic, Head of the Department of EU Sectoral Policies Snezana Stojic and Tamara Rastovac Siamasvili from the OSCE Chairmanship Task Force.
During the visitors’ stay in Belgrade, meetings were organized also in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence where they will be informed on the cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO through the Partnership-for-Peace programme in the areas relevant to these ministries.

Representatives of SEEGROUP participating states will also take part in the Belgrade Security Forum (2015 BSF) to be held in Belgrade under the title “Can Europe Redefine Itself”.
