First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had a series of bilateral meetings on the fringes of the70th session of the UN General Assembly, in New York today.

The Serbian Foreign Minister met with the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Feridun Hadi Sinirlioglu and Igor Crnadak. The Ministers welcomed the holding of the first meeting of the Trilateral Trade Committee between Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey held in Ankara on 17 and 18 August this year, and the forthcoming trilateral Business Forum in Sarajevo scheduled for 20 October. They also discussed the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting at the Presidential or Prime-Minister level.

Minister Dacic pointed out that one of the objectives of this trilateral format was regional stability. In this regard, the Government of Serbia has continued good relations with Bosnia and Hercegovina. Dacic also suggested that the three sides should search for common interests, with special emphasis on cooperation in the field of economy and in defining regional interest projects (infrastructure projects, defence, agriculture, tourism, etc.).

Ministers discussed other topical issues, such as counter-terrorism and the issue of migrants.

Minister Dacic met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Fiji Ratu Inoke Kubuabola. Both Ministers expressed their desire to improve bilateral relations through the strengthening of political dialogue. The Serbian Foreign Minister was invited to visit Fiji. Although Fiji recognized the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija two years ago, the Serbian Minister asked for understanding the position of the Government of Serbia regarding Kosovo’s application for admission to UNSECO membership.
