sastanak dacic-ditmanFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Axel Dittmann.

During the meeting both sides agreed that the relations between Serbia and Germany were good, characterized by cooperation in all fields, high-level dialogue and by a constant trend of promotion.

In addition to bilateral relations and European integration of Serbia, they discussed the issue of migrant crisis, in light of current events, but also ahead of the forthcoming session of the UN General Assembly.

The discussion highlighted the importance of the meeting on OSCE peace operations that Serbia, as OSCE Chair, will organize during the forthcoming UNGA general debate on 1 October.

Ambassador Dittmann reiterated that Germany respected Serbia’s treatment of migrants and conveyed that they highly appreciated Serbia’s restrained reaction to the measures taken by the Republic of Croatia. It was agreed that the most important thing was to calm the situation. Minister Dacic expressed his conviction that the problems would be quickly solved.

Ambassador Dittmann underlined that it was very important for Germany that first two chapters in the negotiations on Serbia's EU accession were opened by the end of 2015 and pointed out that it was realistic to occur after the December European Council.
