Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the temporary closure of Horgos‐Roszke border crossing for traffic

logo ministarstvaThe Embassy of Hungary in Belgrade informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia in its Note today that the Horgos‐Roszke border crossing will be closed temporarily for traffic.

The Hungarian side stated: “Considering the situation at the border crossing on the Roszke‐Horgos highway and the Roszke‐Horgos road crossing caused by massive migration endangering public safety in Hungary, the Hungarian side suspends in part, temporarily for a period of 30 days, the implementation of the Agreement on Road, Rail and Water Cross‐Border Traffic Control between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Hungary, on the basis of Article 24, para (5) of the Agreement, Articles 10 and 11 concerning the border crossing on the Roszke‐Horgos highway and on the Roszke‐Horgos road crossing. As the situation requires immediate response, pursuant to Article 24, para (5) of the Agreement, the suspension will become effective upon the receipt of this diplomatic Note”.
